Programs at Pilgrim Baptist Fellowship
Christian Education
Ethics, Theology, and Apologetics. From the beginning of PBF we set out in our Christian education mission to study these three disciplines in a three-year cycle. We study some aspect or implication of each to help us answer the tough questions the society and even Christians as asking. This year we are back to Ethics. Ethics has to do with the subject of what is right and what is wrong. Increasingly, our culture and even Christians have great difficulty knowing right from wrong and, stemming from this, the inability to take a stand on the issues of the day in order to prevent harm.
Since our last term of Ethics we have seen our government impose a change on the definition of marriage. Marriage is no longer viewed as a union of one man and one woman. Is this right or wrong? And who are you to say so?
This term of Ethics will bring into frank discussion the right and wrongs around God, Marriage, and Family. We intend it to be studied with high participation from all of us, with hopefully everyone involved in making as least a short presentation on one of the issues involved. Each topic will be studied over a minimum of two weeks. In the first week, the issues will be uncovered by presenting the cultural positions (these will be presented by people in class). The following week(s) will have a biblical response presented by the session leader and others. The result should be an exciting time of dialogue, debate, and discovery on what the Spirit of God says to these issues based on His word.
Adult Fellowship
Purpose: To foster a Christ-like community of love, tolerance, and charity.
Since the fall of humankind, we all know that people have had relational difficulties. Christianity gives the opportunity and the power to overcome these. In the Scriptures, the apostles urge the Church to “love one another deeply, for love covers a multitude of sins” (1 Pet 4:8). When we meet together for Christian fellowship, we are given the opportunity to practice this mandate.
In our times together, we encourage people to get to know each other in order to pursue Christian friendships. These friendship become vital to a life-long walk with Jesus as we love Him together through worship, striving for personal purity, and doing good to our neighbours (James 1:27).
At PBF, our Adult Fellowship times are warm, interactive, worshipful, and fun. We hope you will come out for a visit.
Ladies Fellowship
The Ladies of PBF love to meet together bi-weekly for friendship, encouragement, and spiritual growth. Coffee, snacks, and inspiring conversation (usually out of a Christian book study and the Scriptures) all take place in the warmth of someone’s home. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and make meaningful friendships.
Young Adults
Led by Jeremy Johnston, these meetings are guaranteed to change your life! Be there!
Young People (High School)
Certainly, today’s contemporary culture is incredibly difficult for a young Christian to live in. Our teen meetings aim to give a non-threatening environment where healthy friendships are formed and nurtured. Each month, two of our meetings focus on fun and friendship, and one meeting is focused on exploring the practical implications of being a Christian in today’s world.
